Production at Henry-Griffitts is different. There are no production lines, each club is hand-crafted with remarkable precision. There are no pre-built clubs, each club is made exactly to the specifications obtained during the teaching sessions. There are lot of companies that build good golf clubs, however it is the consistency of matching within the set itself and to the golfer where Henry-Griffitts excels.

There are 13 main stages to the production of the purest golf clubs in the world.
Graphite Shaft Weighing and Frequencying
Henry-Griffitts does not accept the tolerance range for the frequency of the graphite shafts that the industry supplies. Each shaft is checked for its frequency (the number of cycles of determined vibration per minute) and weighed. A golfer will detect a difference in the feel of a shaft within a few frequency cycles, shafts are supplied in range of frequencies much greater than this. At Henry-Griffitts to maintain consistency in a set of clubs the shafts are all matched in frequency. Shafts we are supplied with that are outside of our tight tolerances are returned to the manufacturer.

In addition to this each shaft is rolled to test for any abnormalities in curvature with shafts outside of our tolerances also returned to the supplier. A consistent practice of excellence throughout production is the recording of any established club data. In this stage for each customer the frequency of shafts is recorded and kept for future matches.
Shaft Weighing
In a similar manner to the frequencying of graphite shafts, steel shafts are also evaluated upon delivery from the suppliers. Just as graphite shafts are categorized by their frequency. Steel shafts are grouped by their weight and flex. Those that fall outside of the tight tolerances set by Henry-Griffitts are returned to the suppliers.

To ensure consistent feel and purity through a set of steel shafted clubs, just as graphite shafts are matched for frequency, steel shafts are matched by weight. This is also recorded for any future matches required by the customer.
Shaft Cutting
Once a set of shafts have been selected for either their matches in frequency or weight (graphite and steel respectively) they are cut to appropriate lengths for each club in the set. The tolerance accepted for these lengths is +/- 16th of an inch.

At this stage this a quality check performed on the shafts to ensure they are cut to the specified tolerances.
Heading
Each head received from a supplier is weighed to the individual gram. Each head is matched to the weight of the head that is in the Training Center. This ensures consistency between the club the student will have experienced during the lesson and the club they will receive.

The swing-weight is taken at this point and recorded, (swing-weight is not the overall weight of a club rather it is the balance point and effectively represents the weight distribution of the club). The swing-weight dramatically affects how the club will feel and it is essential to monitor and record throughout the production process to ensure consistency is maintained throughout the set. The tolerance range accepted by Henry-Griffitts is +/- ˝ a swing-weight.

Wood Bending
Each wood head is checked for its real face angle to ensure once again that it is consistent with the club the student will have used during the lesson. The industry supplies heads with a tolerance of +/- 2°. The tolerance Henry-Griffitts accepts is +/- ˝°.

It is during this stage that the lie angles are adjusted and a full quality control check undertaken to ensure that the loft and lie is accurate.

Iron Bending
In a similar manner to the woods, the iron bending follows meticulous standards. The lie angles can be adjusted from 6°up to 7° flat. These are kept within an obsessive tolerance of +/- ˝°.

Keeping in theme with the attention to quality another set of quality control checks are performed to ensure consistency with the club that the student will have hit during the lesson.

Cosmetic Clean Up
This relatively simple stage ensures that clubs reflect the quality of care in their precision of their appearance.
SST Puring
Ferral Installation
This stage is the installation of a 1 gram plastic ferral. The club is re-checked for its swing-weight (balance point) and the shaft type is double checked for its flex and kick point. The swing-weight is again recorded.

Epoxy Setting
This stage adds 1 gram of long life epoxy to set the shaft in the club-head (this will be to the alignment determined by the SST Puring process if this was used). The club is checked again for its swing-weight and recorded. There is a further check undertaken on the loft and lie to ensure accuracy.
Ferral Sanding
The ferral sanding is another cosmetic stage to ensure the appropriate presention of the club. The ferral is sanded to a perfect match with the size of the hosel. The ferral is then shined with a solvent and a further cosmetic clean up of the hosel and head is undertaken.
Gripping
The gripping stage continues the ever meticulous approach with each grip weighed to gram and categorized in much the same manner as the shafts. The same weight grip is used throughout the set to ensure consistency. The grip weight is also recorded for future matches. The shafts are built up to the appropriate grip size and the grip aligned on the club. The club is lined up in playing position by hand. lasers can be used but years of experience have discovered that even those do not provide the same level of accuracy as the actual setting and evaluating of the club on the ground by hand.

The final swing-weight is then once again taken and recorded with the grip. The swing-weight tolerance of ˝ a swing-weight is the tightest tolerance in the industry and most reflects how the club will feel and perform.
Detailed Quality Control Checks
Each club is checked and evaluated against the original specifications to ensure accuracy and quality. The cosmetics are given a final once over and the club overall weight is recorded. The personalization of the clubs with the customers name is produced and affixed to the clubs at this stage.
